MY ENGLISH PROGRESS

When I was reading what I have to do to finish my blog of English, I found it very strange. I have to compare my first post of 1^st of Batxillerat and the last one.

First of all I read all two posts and there are too many differences. I laughed a lot reading my first post. I think that my writing at that time was very cold and introverted. I wrote that composition for writing, not for pleasure and this it can be saw about the information that I gave.

Comparing to the last, I need to tell that I learnt a lot and also now I think that I have pleasure when I write.

I could not compare the oral presentations because I had all of them in my mobile phone and it now it doesn’t work…

This blog and also the other writings that I made in Catalan and Spanish made me think about publishing my reflections and the opinions of my friends. We are thinking about making a web page to analyse the fixtures of Spanish First Division.

GIRONA FC

SUMMARY:

The team Girona FC is been making an amazing, incredible and extraordinary season this year. The team has never been on the first division and now are on the second position.

Girona is one of the teams that have the lower budget and the work of its coach, Pablo Machín is excellent. The team is playing in a good level and the dream of the entire city is near to be part of the real life.

In this part of the season, the supporters of the club are encouraging all the players and they have an important part of the achievement.

PERSONAL OPINION 

In my opinion Girona are doing an excellent job. All this years in second division I went to see Girona a lot of matches and I expect that next year I will see them playing in first division.

LA LIGA

SUMMARY:

In La Liga (Spain), Madrid achieved a draw against Valencia yesterday that get away from the first place in the table. Barcelona achieved a win against Real Societat and there are 5 points between the Catalans and Madrid. There are two fixtures yet, but Barça will win one of those matches.

There is an amazing fight for the fourth place and the seventh. There are a lot of teams fighting for the Champions next season and the Europe League.

PERSONAL OPINION:

In my opinion, Barça will win the League title, Madrid will be the second, Atletico the third and Valencia the fourth. Sevilla, Vilareal and Athletic Club will be in Europa League next year. Cordoba, Eibar and Depor will be relegate.

PREMIER LEAGUE

SUMMARY:

Chelsea has won the Premier League title. All the season they demonstrated a big defensive strength. There’s no time since August that it were a better team than Chelsea.

Another reason for the title is that other teams didn’t play at the level that they expected. United and City were irregular.  Arsenal and Liverpool started very bad but they are playing in a top level in the final part of the season.

Chelsea made things good too. Mourinho indentified what the team needs to be better and in summer he signed Costa, Remy and Drogba, strikers. Fabregas and Matic, midfielders. Courtois that he plays as a goalkeeper.

PERSONAL OPINION:

In my opinion Chelsea is the exact winner of Premier League because all the other teams didn’t be at the same level than Chelsea. I excpect thet next year it will be more rivalry.

Champions League

SUMMARY:

The first round of the Champions League semi-finals has been passed. Last Tuesday, Juventus played against Madrid in his stadium. The result was 2-1 in favour of the Italians. The defensive tactic of Ancelotti was overtaken by all the offensive players of Juventus.

On Wednesday, Barcelona played against Bayern of Munchen in Camp Nou. The match was equalized; Barça put the chances and Bayern the control of the ball. Barça won the match on the last minutes, Messi scored two amainzing goals and Neymar made the third.

PERSONAL OPINION:

In my opinion, Barça is near to the final, but they need to do another extraordinary match in Germany. Madrid I think will pass too. In Bernabeu they will dominate the match.

WHO IS MEMPHIS DEPAY?

SUMMARY:

Memphis Depay is one of the youngest talents in Europe. He played for PSV since he has twelve and now he’s age 21. He made his debut when he was seventeen. He plays as a winger and he had scored 38 goals in 88 appearances.  

He had played the last World Cup with Netherlands and he scored a decisive goal against Australia.

Now he had signed a contract for Manchester United for next season.

PERSONAL OPINION:

In my opinion, Memphis is one of the best younger players in the world and I think that United had done the best with this signing. I wish I could watch his talent on the Premier League next year.

IS THERE TOO MUCH SPORT ON TELEVISION?

In my opinion there is a good balance of sports programmes and none sports programmes on television. To answer this question I have two reasons:

First of all, there are TV channels only dedicated to sports and also others to films, documentaries or information. Here, in Catalunya, we have Esport 3 and they only put sports programmes. But if you want to watch other kind of programmes, you have a lot of channels for having fun and entertainment.

Then, I understand people that think that are too many sport programmes on television because when Barça wins a match, they talk about this too much on the none specialized channels.

To sum up, I want to say that in my opinion there aren’t too many sports on television. My point of view isn’t objective because I love sports programmes...

A LETTER TO FERRAN

Hi Ferran,

This day we are much stressed, we have a lot of exams and a lot of work to do for school. I want to remember that in two weeks we can be in holidays...

But we can meet at the weekend and have relaxed... We can go to the beach, to swim or to play volleyball; we can stay in our homes and watch TV or we can go with our friends...

What is your opinion about this? Have you another opinion or thing to do? Have you got plans for the weekend?

WHAT MONEY CAN’T BUY

All my life I have been hearing that happiness has been bought with money and now I am learning that is more valuable a gesture, for example a romantic one for your girlfriend, a simple touch of a hand or a simply look is better than a very good present. This is my point of view.

Certainly, a lot of times the richest man wins over the pretty girl. But in this relationship they are happy? The rich man can make his girl happy with presents? I think that money can’t buy love and happiness.

Obviously, everyone has a friend and more than one. The friendship can be bought with money? This is impossible. You can have friends, more or minus, but you make friends with your acts, with your personality or simply because they live in the same village or they are your neighbors but never with money.

To sum up, money can’t buy love, happiness, friends, time, and health.

MY LIFE AT THIS POINT

I am eighteen years old and I think that I am conscious of what I am doing with my life. Now I am doing 2^nd of Btx with hope that the next year I will be doing a degree at University, probably the teacher of primary education.

I am having difficult days in the theme of football because I had an injury and I can’t play with my team. I am working hard and fighting with my muscular strain and I expect that I will be playing soon.

But not all is bad in these days. I am in a good relationship with a girl and she makes my life better. She is always helping me and giving support in my bad moments. I am very happy with her.

I hope that next year I could write another essay like this in the University and without any injuries!

'What Colour Is This Dress?'

SUMMARY:

A woman bought a simple dress for going to her daughter wedding. They had a discussion for the colour of this dress; they put the picture on a website searching more opinions.

After few days, that dress was trending topic on all the social networks. A lot of famous people commented the dress photo saying the colour that they saw.

 This dress has become very popular and also the universities are making studies searching why people see the dress in different colours.

PERSONAL OPINION:

I have been fascinated with the photo of the dress because I see it in different colours in one day. At the morning I see it blue and black and at the evening I saw it white and gold.

The Blurred Lines Copyright Verdict is Bad News for Music

SUMMARY:

Marvin Gaye family reported the song of Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke Blurred Lines that is a copy of Got to give it up.

First of all, the Gaye’s family didn’t think that Blurred Lines song was a copy of Got to give it up. The family’s lawyer made the first move and the Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke defended this song saying that they only took a feeling and if the songs are similar is because they’re in the same genre.

After some trials, the judge found that Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke had to pay 7 million dollars.

PERSONAL OPINION:

In my opinion and after searching and listening the two songs I think that are too different and I won’t say that they copy the Gaye’s song. And the fine that they had to pay was too high from the similarity of the songs.

IRON MAN GIVES BIONIC ARM TO SEVEN-YEAR-OLD BOY

SUMMARY:

The main character of the science-fiction film Iron Man and The Avengers, Robert Downey Jr, paid a biotic arm to a seven-year-old boy. His name is Alex and he has born with a problem in his right arm. His arm has been only partially developed.

The name of the creator and who designed this biotic arm is Alberto Manero. Manero is an engineering student and his project is to create biotic arms for all children around the world with disabilities in the arms.

PERSONAL OPINION:

In my opinion is a good idea to show support for this children that have problems in his arms. I value a lot the project of the student Alberto Manero because I think that is a good way to start helping those kids.

SARAH BRIGHTMAN WRITING SONG TO SING IN SPACE

SUMMARY:

Sarah Brightman is a soprano Singer from opera and she would like to sing a song composed from her in the space.

The next 1 of September, Sarah would travel to the International Space Station and she wants to sing her own song there. She said that her dream of her childhood is to travel to space. After, she and her husband increased the dream, singing their own song during the travel.

OPINION:

In my opinion it’s amazing that someone could achieve her or his dream of childhood and is fascinating to achieve the goal of Sarah, travel to space and singing a song!

KANY WEST ON HIS EGO, ART AND REPUTATION

SUMMARY:

The last Monday 2 of March Kanye West, who is a very important rapper of the US, gave a talk at Oxford University. There, he talked about his thoughts, religions, music, art, policy and about his life.

The rapper talked about very interesting topics like what would he do if he couldn’t be a rapper. He said that he would be an artist like Picasso or better, he also criticized the luxury and the prices of some clothes. In the talk, he recognized his Achilles heel, his ego that he said that it’s too big.

OPINION:

When I read this news about the talk of Kanye West I’ve been fascinated, I need a minutes to think about all the topics that he explained and I loved the way of he think.

A SOULMATE AT THIS POINT

A soulmate has a lot of different definitions that are correct. It is possible to talk about a soulmate of friendship, about a brother soulmate... but I want to talk about a soulmate of a relationship.

First of all I want to say that I am an extroverted boy, happy, active... and my soulmate has to have these characteristics and others that are more important for me, for example: she has to be an attentive girl, she has to worry about how I feel, and she has to be responsible because sometimes I lose the way to take.

Secondly I want to describe the appearance of my soulmate, but this is difficult to describe because my point of view about the physic of a girl changes too fast. Actually I prefer blonde girls, taller than smaller, slimmer than thinner or fatter.

In conclusion, my soulmate has to be extroverted, happy, active, attentive, worried and responsible. She may be blonde and have the perfect body but this is not essential. 

THE 16 MOST AMAZING NESTS BUILT BY BIRDS

SUMMARY:

It's very difficult to understand how birds can make those wonderful nests. They usually use they own saliva or mud to paste the branch that they can find in the trees or on the floor.

Birds can also create a communitarian nest and work all together for the construction, maintenance and repair for their own palace. This is the case of Sociable Weaver (Philetairus socius).

Other type of birds create their nest with leaves and silk fibers, all this attached to the tree with the spider silk and covered with lichens for camouflage. These birds are the hummingbirds.

OPINION:

Birds are in my life since I born. I have always been living with my grandfather birds and I like this kind of animals a lot. In my opinion this news is fascinating, interesting and enjoyable, I learnt a lot reading how the different birds create their own and original nest.

SUMMER HISTORY

I thought it was going to be an ordinary day, but I was wrong. I woke up and I didn’t remember where I was. I started to walk around the strange house and I quickly remembered I was at a new friend's house. I didn’t recognize it because we arrived late the night before and everything was dark. Some light of the day was coming through the window and I saw my friends sleeping. I waited in the kitchen, my friends started waking up lazily. We felt tired and we had no plans.When all the seven friends finished breakfast, the doorbell rang.  We didn’t expectanyone. All the boys who were in the house went to the door and I opened it. A man started talking and with his words, a smile started to draw on our faces. He gave us all the machines to record our cd. We didn't waste any time and we started to record with the new objects.

It was a good experience, but it wasn’t the same for our parents who had paid all the things.

THE LONGEST YARD

I don’t see many films on TV, but last Friday night I saw a good film. The title of the film is The Longest Yard.

This film is about an old quarterback who is arrested and put into prison. In the prison of Texas he makes a lot of friends and has the idea of the organization of a match, guards vs. prisoners. The match is amazing and thrilling with the final victory of the prisoners.

What I particularly liked about the Longest Yard was the humour parts and the match which is very exciting. The script is very good and all the jokes of the films are funny.

I would recommend this film because I laughed a lot and I couldn’t stop watching it because of its exciting scenes. I had a good moment watching this film. 

IS INTERNET MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE?

It is said that Internet is just for social networks but it's not just that, it also offers more facilities. However, we will focus on social networks and its pros and cons.

On the one hand, we want to say that Internet is the perfect place to connect with anybody around the whole world. This connection gives more opportunities to shy people because they can be more extroverted than meeting someone face to face. 

On the other hand with the use of Internet people lose their privacy and this can cause more problems. Using Internet too much can produce isolation from the family and friends which is bad and as a consequence they create their own world without living the real one. In addition, Internet can create fake expectations that are too far from the reality.

To sum up, we consider that Internet has more benefits than issues. Now and in the future, the use of Internet should not be a problem.
